Christmas On My Mind
Oh, I am getting so excited about Christmas. As you may remember, KK and I have decided to do a homemade Christmas this year and I’m just dying that I can’t share my ideas with you here. After all, there is a lot of brainstorming that needs to occur for a family of four: baby Cricket, kindergarten boy Tank, fab mama KK and handsome papa CK.
(KK – we need a more fun blog name for C. I’ll trust you to get on that.)
I think I have Cricket under control. Tank is giving me fits. KK and CK are still up in the air, but at least I have some ideas.
I’d love to take pictures of some of the work in progress, but I can’t even do that. You see, KK is the world’s best guesser. It used to drive me crazy as a kid. We’d get into arguments and she would start saying my sentences with me at the exact same time I was speaking them!
Like this (very boring fictionalized argument to prove my point). Also I have to point out that KK and I have a much better relationship now – we hardly ever fight about cookies before dinner anymore.
KK: Mom says no cookies before dinner.
Juice: Leave me alone.
KK: I’m telling.
Juice: Seriously, go away.
KK: You’re going to be in trouble.
Juice – and KK in stereo: You’re such a tattletale. Why do you always have to be in my business? Get away from me you brat.
See? And even though that argument is a complete figment of my imagination, the concept is accurate. KK had this uncanny ability to figure out exactly what I was going to say. Which I guess might be an indicator that I’m completely boring and predictable.
Hmmm.
Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
New Year’s Resolution.
Resolution #1. Be less boring and predictable.
Resolution #2. Plan to be more spontaneous.
I’ll be sure to get right on that.
Anyway, back to Christmas. I’d love to be fun and clever and post some teaser pictures like this:

this is NOT part of Christmas
But as sure as I do that, I’ll get a call from KK saying “Oh, so you’re making handmade crayons for Tank?” And then all the surprise is gone like helium from a balloon.
And I don’t even get to talk in a funny voice.
So no teaser pictures, but I will tell you that (in my mind at least) all of my gift ideas are just darlin’ plus. And if you haven’t read BooMama’s post about darlin’ plus you need to do that right now. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
I’ll just be present with this here helium.
*sings* We represent the lollipop guild…
I did ready Boo Mama and am trying to remember to incorporate ‘darlin plus’ into my vocabulary!
Also, I have had Christmas on my mind today and even moved the countdown to the top of my blog (yes, it’s been lurking down at the bottom since the summer!). Couldn’t believe it when your blog cycled to the top of my blog roll with that title!
The universal language of sisters. I am presuming you are the older sister? Because it sounds just like me and my sister, and I am the oldest (by all of 15 months, but that’s all it took!)
Good call Debby. I have 5 years on KK.
KK has 8 inches on me, but that’s another post. I’m not bitter at all. Really.
That is hilarious. My sister is at least 6 inches taller than me. But I will always be bigger.
*groan*…almost Christmas already, and I have no idea what to get anyone. Guess I’d better get thinking…
I’ve got a library book on hold called “Creepy Cute Crochet.” If I can dust off my crochet skills, maybe I can pull off making little crocheted ninjas!
P.S. Can hardly wait to see what you come up with!!!
