Jailbreak

June 25, 2010

Guess who escaped from her crate yesterday?

Why Mr. Quackers in jail wit me?

Yesterday we spent time at the dog park, played with a friend, had dinner and then I headed to an open mic to try and drum up some more gigs.  While I was singing, Houdini was working her magic.

You can imagine my surprise when I opened the door to find Chloe nonchalantly trotting towards me.

Hi Mama!  See my new trick?

I have to conclude that I did not fully latch the door.

This is similar to the crate we have:

Our is a little smaller, but you get the idea.

The door folds in on itself at the top of the crate.  You secure it at the bottom with a hook.  I must not have secured the hook.

Fortunately, the only damage Chloe did was to tear out the weatherstripping at the bottom of the door.  Apparently she was trying to find me.  😦

I briefly flirted with the idea of leaving her uncrated today.  Until I caught her chewing a basket while I showered.

Back in the crate, Chloe.  And yes, I secured that hook.

Wonder what I’ll come home to today?

Oh my, I don’t like to ask questions like “Wonder what I’ll come home to today?”

Fate has a horrible sense of humor.

I wonder what she’d think if you print out that photo of the crate with the HUGE dog inside and taped it to Chloe’s crate. Hmmmm

Are we living in a very strange parallel universe? I came home to a note from my ‘babysitter’ saying that Noah had gotten out of his chain link run and was in the ‘big yard.’ and it looked like he had opened the gate. My conclusion? that I had not latched the gate. I hope…
