Good Things, Bad Things

August 12, 2010

A collection of annoyances has me frustrated today.  So while I’ll share them with you in an obvious bid for sympathy, I will also try to balance them with the good things that are going on in my life.  Last Sunday, a teacher at my parents’ church commented that life is like railroad tracks – two parallel lines.  You always have both bad and good with you.  What you choose to focus on is up to you.

Without further ado…

The Crappy Railroad Track

  1. I have lost my calendar.  This may not seem like a big deal to many of you, but hi, have you met me?  Calendar obsessed much?  It is a BIG DEAL.  I’ve torn apart my office, my house, my car and have concluded that it’s really and truly gone.  *sniff*
  2. I’m attending a wedding in nine days and my dress-of-choice won’t quite zip.  I think I’m within just a couple of pounds, but I don’t know for certain.  And my back up dress is black, which I’d prefer not to wear to a wedding.  So don’t mind my cranky self this week, but that’s what happens when I try to diet.  Yuck.
  3. I’m fighting with my insurance company for a referral to an eye specialist.  Because putting in eye drops 30 times a day just isn’t normal.
  4. I’ve broken three nails and have two hangnails.  Did I mention the family wedding in nine days?  Sing it with me now:  “I feel pretty, oh so pretty…”

The Good Railroad Track

  1. I have a brand new super sassy pair of shoes to wear with my fabulous wedding dress (assuming I can fit into it).  Perhaps this is even more motivation to be good this week.
  2. The Ravens start their pre-season tonight and I have tickets.  Woot!
  3. I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned that I’m a headhunter in real life.  Today I have two candidates interviewing with clients.  In a down economy that’s wonderful news.
  4. DMW is back in town and we had our first practice in over a month.  Boy did it feel great to be singing with him again.
  5. Oh my goodness!  The insurance company just called me back.  I have an appointment with an opthamalogist at 3pm today.   Whoa.  Kaiser Permanente, you’re back in my good graces.
  6. Chloe.  ‘Nuf said.

Huh, after that call I better start looking around for that calendar again.  It just might turn up.

Stranger things have happened.

Hilarious post today! Glad the good is outweighing the bad but I hope you find your calendar!

I may need to mimic your post today as I am finally back online and I have lost my Garmin watch that I wear when I run and I am as obsessed as you. And if I ever felt like I could spell that word correctly…

On the job front, I got a placement yesterday. That’s great when everyone else seems intent on bombing what interviews I can manage to get them.

P.S. – That dress looks great! I’m sure of it!

You are too too funny. Mentioning a S.S. teacher illustration, and then launching into the CRAPPY railroad track.

Two. They make dresses with zippers? Apparently I can’t be bothered. Would one of those body slimmers work? I love mine so much. But I don’t think it changes the size I can wear.

    3. Shoes. Must see picture.

    4. Lost calendars. Nothing worse. Oliver ate my calendar two times in a row. For the next year or so I forgot everybody’s birthdays. My dad has taken to blaming demons for lost items (even though he has a life long history of losing things.) Some days I think he’s on to something. How can something that was JUST THERE be lost?

    5. Chloe. More please.

One more good thing… WE’RE COMING TO VISIT!!!! And perhaps we can send TaNK into the small spaces to look for your calendar while we reminisce about the good ol’ Teeny Girl days/phase.

Wait. It was a phase, right? You’re not gonna send me into any small, dark, cobweb-laden spaces, are you? ARE YOU??????

I’m so glad you have good to go along with the bad, as it should be. I would be lost without my calendar, too!

We’re looking in the DC/VA area for a job for my husband, otherwise, knowing a Baltimore headhunter would have been awesome. Oh wait! I already know you and it IS awesome!

Need to see the shoes and Chloe. Stat.
