Family Fun Fantastic Voyage to Navesink, New Jersey

August 26, 2010

Friday found us headed north to New Jersey.  Our first stop was Navesink, where Poppi grew up and Uncle B still resides.

I wanted to make sure that Tank had the full family road trip experience, so I brought along the music that KK and I remember from long ago trips to Cape Cod.  We might not be allowed to spread sleeping bags in the back of a station wagon anymore, but by hang we can listen to Neil Diamond’s Hot August Night.

And if you’ve never heard that album, you really must take the 7 minutes required to listen to the prologue and first song.  It’s right here.   Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Because it’s important to have that music in your head while you picture the entire Juice family rockin’ out airband style.  The best part was when Tank got so caught up in drumming that he forgot about the Horizon Organic Vanilla Milk box between his legs.  I’ve never seen a straw shoot across the car with such velocity.  For the record, KK was a good sport about the extra “product” in her hair.

Making faces

One of the best things about being the older sister is convincing KK to take silly pictures.  These next few photos crack me up.

I dare you not to laugh

That's comedy gold, folks

In KK’s defense, I must point out that she had some kicky shoes to match that outfit, but she prudently changed into sneakers for our walk.   (You’re welcome, KK.)

Monkey see, monkey do

Uncle B has photo skillz

Thanks for your hospitality Uncle B!

Silly pictures are obviously the best. And Neil Diamond is obviously the best. Win-win. Thanks for sharing your family with us.
