I’m Axe-ing You To Stop
October 11, 2010
Remember when I first got Chloe and she had splotches on her fur?
I think I may have figured it out. Forrest Gump stayed with us again this weekend. When I got home Sunday after dropping him off Chloe looked like this:
I’m not exactly sure of the culprit, but I’m guessing AXE. My girl is super-sensitive to fragrance.

Just say no
Half a Benedryl seemed to help. Plus a bath using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. Remember when I bought that trying to lighten my hair? I didn’t use it then, but I’m so glad I had some last night for Chloe. God works in mysterious ways.
I gave her another Benedryl when she woke at 4am. She seems a little better this morning. I’ll be keeping a close eye on her.
Who knew my Chloe was such a delicate flower?
Oh my goodness Juice! Poor Chloe! It looks like she has LUMPS under her fur…. 😦 Hope it goes away soon…..
Yeah. I was pretty freaked out when I first saw her. It just hives, but it looks horrendous! They are much smaller today. She has some scabbing from scratching at them. Poor little girl.
wow, the pictures do look like she has lumps in her.
I am sure she is happy that you take such good of her.
oh, and I do love her flower print neckerchief, she looks very feminine. I like the one with rickrack she was wearing last week too.
Thanks Rhonda! I had a lot of fun making those with my mom. 🙂
Poor girlie-pup! At first glance I was thinking ringworm, but obviously that’s not it. Hope she’s itch and bump free soon!
Poor lil Chloe!!
Your title made me cackle out loud!!!
Phoebe got hives once. I don’t know what caused it but I have to admit, bulldogs are a special kind of cute, but when they’re covered in hives…it’s not pretty!
Poor Chloe! I’m glad she’s feeling better today. Oatmeal shampoo helps with itchy skin, too.
How horrible! I sort of did a little gasp when I saw it. It looks horrible and I didn’t anticipate where you were headed with this. I’m glad things are clearing up for Chloe.
Wow! I’ve never seen anything like that in all my years in dogs. I have had a couple of dogs with skin allergies. I buy the oatmeal shampoo at Walmart, and I think it helps. Also, did I tell you my super secret dog groomer tip–dilute the doggie shampoo about 1 part to 5-10 parts water. It still is plenty sudsy, but easier to work into their coat down to the skin, and easier to make sure you get it all rinsed out.
I was going to suggest the oatmeal bath too (Aveeno makes a people one and WalMart carries it). Works really well on young children and I’d be willing to bet it would work with Chloe. Might as well just buy a box and keep it around since (I think) it has a ridiculously long shelf life. Never know when a visitor might show up loaded with perfume/cologne. Hope the Chlo-ster feels better soon!
Awww, poor Chloe! How’s Forrest?!
