Homeward Bound

October 11, 2011

All too soon camp was over and we headed back to Baltimore.  Someone (and I won’t name names) slept quite a bit during our first leg to Christiansburg, VA.

Interstate 26 from Asheville to Tennessee was particularly beautiful.  I recommend it!

Monday morning we hit the road with the hopes of getting to see the Blue Ridge Parkway sans fog.

Hello BRP!

Unfortunately, that did not happen.  We drove in and out of fog for miles.  It was a little harrowing at times, especially since my cell phone had no service.  I white knuckled it through a few twists praying that God would protect us from any sudden obstacles.

We pulled off for a quick rest at a particularly scenic overlook.  Or at least I’m assuming it’s scenic when the sky is clear.

A beautiful view. Obscured by fog.

Another rest break further down the mountain was less foggy and provided a nice photo op for Chloe.  Isn’t that an interesting fence?  I wonder if that style serves a particular purpose.

Dis purpose to show cuteness.

A few more miles, a few more naps and a few more rest stops and we finally returned home to Baltimore.  Our Camp Unleashed adventure officially over (at least until next year).

How can you not smile at the picture of the sleeping puppy?

How precious! I love a sleeping pet. I’m curious about the fence, too.
