Amsterdam!

October 24, 2011

My friend Jersey and I traveled to Amsterdam to celebrate our birthdays (just a little early).  We share a birthday on November 4.

I know it seems silly to take a picture of the breakfast table, but our hotel was right on a canal and the view was beautiful!  Plus, the breakfast was really good and I loved the coffee.  I fueled up every morning for a full day of sightseeing.  Thanks Wyndham Apollo!

See that narrow building?  At one point Amsterdam residents were taxed according the the width of their houses.  Can you imagine living in that?

Another picture from our canal tour – a replica of a Dutch East India Company ship.

We saw lots of houseboats along the canals.

We had overcast skies and rain on and off for the whole trip, so I looked like Barney most of the visit.  I was thankful for the hood however, it saved me from having to carry an umbrella!

What beautiful pictures, Juice! I, too, love the view from your breakfast table! It looks like it was a “memory for life” kind of trip!

What a wonderful city! I was there when I was in high school and I remember well how lovely everything was. It’s so great that you took a trip like this. Very exciting!

Love hearing about your travels! I have a green waterproof Northface jacket that I seem to be in on every single trip I take, but I’ll sacrifice style for not getting wet or having to carry an umbrella every time!
