The Dogs of Tilghman

June 13, 2012

Chloe and I spent Memorial Day weekend with friends on Tilghman Island.  Several guests (and their dogs) circled in and out of the house over the weekend, giving the holiday a fun dogapalooza vibe.  Without further ado, please meet the dogs of Tilghman…

Your Hosts:

Quincy

Independent and tiny, Quincy never abuses his status as elder statesman.  Known for squeaking like a guinea pig.  Favorite hobby: baking on the deck.

Daphne

Proof that some dogs just can’t free feed, Daphne has recently slimmed down from her foster home.  She is the newest addition to the Tilghman clan.  Hobbies: following her Mom around; sitting in Dad’s lap if there appears to be food involved.

The Guests:

Tater Tot

Youthful and energetic, Tater may have a visit to a therapist in her future.  She was the largest dog at Tilghman by a good 40 pounds.  While it didn’t seem to bother her at first, I noticed her counting her pieces of kibble before she ate later in the day.  Prefers to be called by her full name (Tater Tot) in some circumstances, but introduces herself as the more preppy “Tate” at lacrosse games.  Hobbies: destroying toys; following Chloe around.

Daisy

A Schnauzer Poodle mix, Daisy is part of a set with Vinnie.  Not a fan of the water.  Favorite hobby: sneaking into any available food (even if it’s dog treats hidden deep in the pocket of a bag).

Vinnie

Another poodle mix, also not a fan of the water.  Small enough and adventurous enough to slip through the railing on the deck.  Favorite hobby:  Keeping Mom and Dad on their toes.

Chloe

Just turned three, still youthful and energetic but no longer puppy-spastic.  Will speak, roll over, shake or high five  for food.  Deeply attached to a small orange ball.  Only dog.  Does not share well with others.

And there you have it.  The dogs of Tilghman.  Here’s hoping this will be an annual tradition!

Omg! What an adorable cast! Love the picture of the not-shy-at-all Chloe.

That is funny–only dog , does not share well with others.

Plus, poodles that do not like the water? There’s something wrong with that!
