The Trip West – Day 6
Dad and I left Boulder City at 5am to make it through Las Vegas before anything got going with the marathon.
We were warned that the trip from Vegas to Reno was a little barren, so every time we saw a town it was very exciting.
You don’t see Joshua trees very often, but Nevada has a lot of them.
Chloe seemed a little impatient. She kept trying to help us navigate. Perhaps she thought we were lost in the desert.
There is no interstate for most of the trip between Vegas and Reno. The speed limit varied from 35 to 70 MPH.
At long last we saw a welcome sight – KK’s home in Reno!
We spent some time visiting with KK and the kids before heading to Sacramento. Dad picked up a rental car at the Reno airport and we drove separately to the La Quinta in Rancho Cordova, CA. I must have been too excited to take pictures – it completely slipped my mind.
A yummy dinner at Brookfields and we settled into the hotel just before the storm arrived, bringing with it at least 3 tornados! A memorable welcome to California.
And that was Day 6. Total mileage 606.
