Thanksgiving in Reno
Thanksgiving this year was a quiet peaceful time. I drove to Reno early Thanksgiving morning, curious to see the traffic. In past years the trip from Baltimore to New Jersey required an EARLY start to avoid traffic on the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Oftentimes my cousin and I would ride together. A coffee stop was mandatory, as was a nap once we arrived (usually in time to see the end of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade).
This year’s trip held no tolls and no turnpikes, but it did include the Donner Pass and Lake Tahoe. I wasn’t sure if there would be ski-traffic to navigate. I left Sacramento at 7:30am (Starbucks in hand) and had smooth sailing the entire way to Reno.
KK took care of the kitchen duties while Cricket and I did needlework.
The next day we took a trip to Graeagle, CA to gather pine cones and greenery for Christmas decorations.
It was a gorgeous day – bright and sunny.
Tank worked the pruner (boy did he love that tool!).
Cricket found a hiking stick…
which absorbed most of her attention.
Chloe was a blur in motion, but I did manage to snap a quick pic.
We emerged with full baskets and happy memories…
and then decided to explore the town of Graeagle.
Those little red cabins are a line of shops. The community center was also hosting a craft fair that day. I’m glad we took the extra time to explore.
Then it was home to Reno
A Thanksgiving filled with thankfulness for time together and love for family near and far.
That last photo is still my favorite!!
Thanks for hangin’ with us!
It is my favorite too, KK! What a great Thanksgiving!
