Turkeys Gone Wild

March 3, 2013

I know I’ve mentioned the wild turkeys before, here and here.  They are such interesting creatures to watch.  One early morning (without my camera) I watched several of them fly down from their roost.  It was eerie and otherworldly and for a second I imagined that I was in some Harry Potter parallel universe.

It must be mating season now.  All of a sudden there is much puffery and hissing and chasing in the mornings.

It’s like my own private National Geographic channel.

That is HILARIOUS!! Its so funny to see so many of them there in the middle of the big city!

Yesterday on the way to church I saw three toms all puffed up, standing so still, and in front of them was ONE hen, completely ignoring them, eating something. It just cracked me up.

I had to stop my car so a Sand Hill Crane could cross the street, but nothing quite like Turkeys Gone Wild. Hey, maybe there is a lucrative video opportunity here? Still can’t see that car in any of these pics! You sure you bought it?
