An Almond Blossom Festival. Or Not.

March 6, 2013

The other weekend I met up with the Nurse for AVA walk in Ripon, CA.  It was the weekend of the Almond Blossom Festival.

The walk took us past town memorials, the old jail and the Ripon Historical Society, which had really terrific exhibits.  Bonus points to them for being dog friendly too!

We ran into this completely adorable puppy several times during the day.  He’s a little camera shy.  Or perhaps he was Chloe shy.

I shy. Dis my person.

It was a gorgeous day and spring flowers were blooming.

But have you noticed what is missing from this post?

Almond blossoms.

And festival-ish things.

We didn’t see one almond orchard* or a single corn dog.  Chloe’s dreams of funnel cake crumb heaven were shattered.

I no look at camera. Scan horizon for festivity.

I’m thankful that we had a planned walk to do that showed us all the town highlights.  If we had gone down just for the festival that would have been a bummer!

*It is very possible that we drove past acres of almond trees on our way to Ripon.  The Nurse and I are both horticulturally challenged.

Looks like a gorgeous town! I laughed out loud when I read the words “horticulturally challenged”. Did you ever find out what the deal was with the festival?
