The Trip West – Day 4

November 12, 2012

By Day 4 Dad and I were feeling pretty good about our travel schedule.  So much so we decided to make this a lighter day and explore Santa Fe, New Mexico.

What? We no drive all day?

We arrived in Santa Fe and immediately headed for the Georgia O’Keefe museum.  Unfortunately Chloe was not allowed inside, so she and Dad enjoyed the courtyard while I raced through the museum.

Dis my artistic museum pose. You want paint me?

We wandered around the town looking in all kinds of boutiques – a gorgeous yarn shop, a general store kind of place, and this interesting European store that carried all kinds of gourmet foods.  You can’t really tell, but the shelves in the picture below are filled with different varieties of lentils!

That’s a lot of lentils.

We ate lunch at the Cowgirl BBQ – a fantastic recommendation.  Not only was the patio Chloe-friendly, the food was stupendous.

Don’t be fooled by the word BBQ.  Neither of us ate any barbecue, but the goat cheese salad was delicious!

Happy diners

The Santa Fe tourism book conveniently mentioned a dog park.  Of course we had to check that out.

Santa Fe, you care about dogses too? Dis my favorite tourist spot.

We snapped this picture of the Rail Runner as we headed out of town towards Gallup.  The train had very attractive graphics.  Amtrak, take note.

A terrific day in Santa Fe and a nice break from our hard charging pace.  Total mileage = 405.
