Friday Good Stuff

January 22, 2010

You know, if I were a more “professional” blogger I might have recurring themes.  You know, like Wordless Wednesdays where you just show a picture, or Teach Me Tuesdays where I share something educational (like the proper ratio of chocolate to marshmallow in a s’more, or something equally life changing).

One post that I’d definitely make semi-regular would be Good Stuff.  Just things that make me happy that I want to share with you.

However, hi.  Do you know me?  Consistency and regular posting: not so much my strong suit.  So let’s pretend instead that you all embrace the randomness as much as I do.  Let’s face it, this may be the closest I get to spontaneity.

Without further ado, good stuff.

1.  Trader Joe’s Gingerbread CoffeeDebby turned me on to this stuff.   Not only am I saving money by not frequenting Starbucks, I get to feel “all growns up”* by actually using my coffee maker!

Yummy!

Side note:  I only started drinking coffee in the last few years, and only foofy lattes from coffee houses or Starbucks.  Bosslady gave me a spare 4-cup coffee maker years ago in case I ever had coffee-drinking houseguests, but it has gotten minimal use.  Until now.   Although I’m still being careful to make sure I don’t have coffee every day.  I hate the thought of being addicted to caffeine.

2. A Friday Night Gig  After a year+ of playing in our favorite bar on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we finally got invited to play on a Friday night!  Dead Man Walking and I have been working towards this goal for a while now.  It’s awesome to have achieved it.  And if you’re near Baltimore on February 12th, leave a comment and I’ll get you the 411. Ooh, we also just created a page on Facebook, so comment if you’d like to be a fan.  I’d post the info here, but it kind of takes away from the whole semi-anonymous blog thing I have going on…

3.  Kid Weekend  Remember J the aspiring chef?  He’s coming back this weekend.   We’ll be hiking Gambrill State Park tomorrow.  And of course we’ll be cooking.  On the menu is pasta carbonara.  After all, he’s a growing boy!

4. New Music Earlier this year I reconnected with some old friends who had moved away from Baltimore quite suddenly.  The husband (Mixmaster) used to be my new music hook up.  He was always creating fun CDs – dance mixes, mellow grooves, etc.  When we reconnected I mentioned how much I missed getting his CDs.

Fast forward to December when a stack like this arrived in the mail.

I'm not exaggerating!

Mixmaster is no joke.  I’m halfway through the stack and loving it!  What an awesome unexpected gift.

5.  The Pay It Forward Challenge  Remember?  My gift for Pubsgal is almost done.  Hey Sparky’s Mom, make sure you get back to me about the challenge when you have a chance.   I can’t work on your project until I get your input!

Tell me what’s good about your day today.

*Does anyone else remember that quote from Swingers?  Loved that movie.

I love your posts, Juice! Just keep us guessing–that’s okay!

    1. I loved that coffee, and was a little sad when it ran out and they had no more. I hope they will bring it back next year. It really was special for Christmas mornings.

    2. CONGRATS! Wish I lived a little closer…

    5. Yikes. You’re putting the pressure on me. However, I am still clinging to the original agreement that I have 365 days to finish.

I started out not drinking coffee, then I drank what my brother called hypoglycemic coffee that tasted like a candy bar because I put so much cream and sugar in it. Then I started to skip the cream and just added sugar. Then one day at a wedding there was no service and on the table there was no sugar or cream. My husband said “You know, life is easier if you drink it black.”

By golly, he was right. I’ve been drinking it black ever since. Glad you’re back and thanks for finishing the bell mystery!!

    Hi Juice,
If you’ll send me an email at heiferyung(at)gmail(dot)com I’ll tell you the steps the trainer showed me to make Zoe sneeze.
